Terry Potter

I’m the son of Gary and Pearlisa “Teddy” Potter. My dad worked for Webb & Sons for 35 years and is currently president of the Otsego Electric Co-Op. My mom worked at Chenango Memorial Hospital for 40 years, with the majority of her time spent on the maternity ward. My wife, Jeanine, is a teacher at Unadilla Valley Central School (1996-present), Co-President of the UVFA, and coached the JV Girls Soccer Team from 1996-2007. We have four children. I have two older brothers, Duane and Joseph. Duane is a physical therapist assistant for UHS Hospitals (Wilson and Binghamton General). Duane and his wife Kim have 3 children. Joseph is a Senior Chief in the US Navy, based out of Norfolk, VA, and has served in the Navy for twenty-one years. Joseph has been deployed for sea duty to the Middle East on two occasions and recently re-enlisted for another three years. Joseph and his wife Nancy have 2 children. My father-in-law is Gene Chilion. Gene was a Math Teacher and principal for New Berlin/Unadilla Valley for 30+ years, he is currently the principal at Holy Family School in Norwich. My mother-in-law is Patricia Chilion . “Patti” wore many hats including Health Teacher at New Berlin, RN at Fox Hospital, and a facilitator for Norwich School District.

I’m employed by the Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference as the Director of the Family Support Program in Norwich, NY. I’ve served as the social worker for the program from 1998-2008 working with at-risk children and families and was promoted to Director in January of 2008. I’m also the Third Party Reviewer for Chenango County Department of Social Services-Foster Care, Adoption, Child Protective, and Preventive cases. Along with this, I’m the Bridges to Health (B2H) Liaison for the Children’s Home in Chenango County. The B2H is a state program that provides intensive services for at-risk cases. From 1995-1998 I was a social worker/counselor for Northern Virginia and Metropolitan Washington DC. Here I served and treated dually diagnosed adults. Millennia-Entertainment, LLC is a multi-media company that markets, promotes, and acts as a middle agent in the music/entertainment industry. I oversee all operations of this company.

I graduated from New Berlin Central School (now Unadilla Valley) in 1989 and previously attended St. Paul’s Catholic School (now Holy Family) in Norwich, NY for my elementary years. From 1989-1991 I attended Cazenovia College where I received an Associates Degree in Human Services. At Caz, I was a member of the Men’s Basketball and Golf Teams. I was co-captain of the basketball team during the 1990-1991 season. I attended St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY from 1991-1995 graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Science Education Degree in Counseling Psychology. In 1993 I also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from St. Bonaventure. While at St. Bonaventure I coached youth basketball, working with ages 8-13.

I’m an active member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and serve on the fund-raising and finance committees. I’m also a part of the “Spirit of Christmas” committee that has annual food drives and toy giveaways for the New Berlin area. This year (2009) I became a part of the Youth Days committee. I’m also in the process of coordinating fund-raising efforts with Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Milford Academy through Millennia Entertainment LLC. In 2007 I assisted with the Fox Hospital “Fox Gala” fund-raiser. I co-wrote “sweet life” as a fund-raiser for the Chenango County Relay for Life efforts in 2005 and have continued to be an active participant in this event. I’m a past recipient of the United Way plaque of appreciation for my contributions to this organization. In 2003, I was awarded the Adult Volunteer Community Youth Worker award, given by the Chenango County Youth Bureau. I work with the Unadilla Valley PTA assisting with the After Prom Party activities. In 2002, I partnered with the Norwich YMCA for the “Toys for Tots” toy collection effort. Lastly, I’ve been a member of the Phoebus Lodge #82 Free and Accepted Masons since 2000.

Hobby wise, I’m the singer/songwriter for the music group “rld”. Since 1992 the band has been together and has released four studio albums. I’ve produced and performed shows with “rld” from Maine to Virginia, along the way opening for acts such as Willie Nelson and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I enjoy playing the guitar and piano. Hunting and fishing are passions that I share with my children. They also enjoy all sports, especially golfing and basketball.
